Default London Eye becomes London pie chart of General Election chatter on Facebook

Quote:
The London Eye is being re-lit to reflect the General Election discussions on Facebook every night until voting day.

Fridsy was the first day of the London Eye's General Election pie chart, which showed that UKIP was the most talked about political party of the day.

The party achieved 15.6 million interactions and three million people talking about them - although the results don't necessarily indicate whether it is positive or negative chatter.

Every night until polling stations open on May 7, the London Eye will be updated with the day's latest discussion stats based on key topics.

Second in last night's conversation count were the Conservatives with 2.2 million interactions from 2.5 million people, followed by Labour with 9.7 million interactions.

In joint fourth place sat the Liberal Democrats and SNP on two million, while the Green Party took 1.3 million, Plaid Cymru had 31,000, DUP with 40,000 and Sinn Fein on 4,000.
Yesterday displayed the main political parties discussed on Facebook by men and today will show female discussions.

Monday, will cover the top five election-related issues, Tuesday will show the main political parties discussed on Facebook in Scotland, while Wednesday will be the main party political leaders discussed on Facebook.

"Politics is huge on Facebook - we expect it to be the most discussed topic in the UK this year," said Facebook's politics and government specialist Elizabeth Linder.

"We've seen over 52 million interactions related to the General Election so far this year, and we're excited to be able to bring this conversational election to life in the heart of London using our data and the iconic Coca-Cola London Eye."
