Default Big Brother Boot Camp

HOUSEMATES JOIN BIG BROTHER’S BOOT CAMP

Today, the housemates received details of their Boot Camp task after Big Brother SAS men dropped a package with the details for the housemates in the garden. Michelle discovered the package with a note telling her that as she discovered the note, she has automatically become a Big Brother Sargeant. She promptly had to report to the Diary Room without speaking to her fellow housemates. She was also told to eat the edible paper immediately, before visiting the Diary Room for her next instructions.

Once in the Diary Room, Michelle was given her instructions. She was told to choose another housemate to become her co-Sargeant. She chose Jason. This means that Michelle and Jason are the two Sargeants and Ahmed, Daniel, Stuart, Shell, Nadia and Victor make up the six Privates. Therefore, the housemates facing eviction will either be Jason against Michelle or the remaining six housemates against each other. Only Michelle and Jason are aware what is at stake over the next few days and they must not reveal this information to the rest of the housemates. Details of Michelle’s instructions were as follows:

“Housemates,

This week the Big Brother house will be turned into the Big Brother Boot Camp.

This week housemates are playing for an extra special privilege pass and next week’s shopping allowance.

In order to pass the task, housemates will need to abide by the rules of the camp and complete assignments set by the Big Brigadier.

The camp will be made up of two Sergeants and six Privates. The Sergeants will be responsible for enforcing the rules of the camp and for ensuring that assignments are successfully executed by the Privates.

You have selected the housemate reading these instructions to be a Sergeant. This Sergeant has chosen another housemate to be a second Sergeant. The first Sergeant must now reveal who this is.

The storeroom will be opened shortly for housemates to collect their uniforms. Housemates must then change into their uniforms immediately.

Big Brigadier”

The Boot Camp rules and duties are as follows. If these rules are not adhered to, a fail will incur.

CAMP RULES AND DUTIES:

Privates will continue to sleep in the sleeping quarters but must not move any of the mattresses or bedding. Sergeants will be able to sleep in a Sergeants’ Mess, which will be opened shortly. Privates will not be permitted to enter the Sergeants’ Mess.

FLAG CEREMONY

· Each morning and evening Big Brigadier will sound a bugle. Sergeants and Privates will have five minutes from the end of the bugle to dress in their full uniform and stand to attention in a line on the walkway facing the garden.

· Sergeants and Privates must wear their full uniform for the flag ceremony, or they will incur a fail. The full uniform comprises the following items:

PRIVATES
1 x Olive green T-shirt
1 x Camouflage Jacket
1 x Camouflage Trouser
1 x Black Boots
1 x Beret

SERGEANTS
1 x Green Military Jacket
1 x White Shirt
1 x Green Tie
1 x Green Army Trousers
1 x Blue Peak Hat with Red Band
1 x Black Boots

· Any absentees will count as a no show and therefore a fail.

· After the five minute time limit the ceremonial music will start.

· On hearing the ceremonial music, one Private must raise or lower the Big Brother flag. The flag must be raised in the morning ceremony and lowered in the evening. The rest of the company must salute from the beginning until the end of the music.

EXERCISE DRILL

· Following the morning Flag Ceremony, Privates must complete an exercise drill. On Big Brigadier’s whistle Privates must run around the garden following the course until the second whistle blows. The cones outline the course. The whistle may sound at any time of the day to instruct the Privates to run the course.

FOOD

· The storeroom will shortly be open for Privates to collect the food rations. The Sergeants will be provided with luxury food that the Privates will not be permitted to eat. Privates will also be provided with rations, which should be eaten out of a billycan.

· All food must be prepared and cooked by the Privates. This includes the Sergeant’s food. The Sergeants’ must sit at the dining table to eat their meals but the Privates must eat their rations out of their billycans, whilst sat on the sofas.

ASSIGNMENTS

· At any time the regiment will be set an assignment by Big Brigadier. This assignment must be completed by the Privates. Sergeants are unable to take part directly but must instead, organise, motivate and discipline the Privates.

SENTRY DUTY

· From 10pm to 6am, Privates must take part in Sentry Duty. On Big Brigadier’s command two Privates must go to the Sentry Post and sit on the stools.

· Each hour the Boot Camp searchlights will flood the garden. This is the signal for one Private to be replaced on duty. Only one Private may swap at a time.

· The searchlights will be on for five minutes. During this time the Private who wishes to swap must go and wake up the next Private to go on duty. The next Private must be sat in the dug out to start their duty in full uniform before the searchlights go off.

· There must be two Privates on duty at all times between 10pm and 6am, apart from the swap over times. If these rules are not followed, Privates will incur a fail.

UNIFORMS

· Privates must wear full uniform for the morning and evening flag ceremony and sentry duty. A fail will incur if Privates do not wear full uniform for these engagements. At all other times, Privates may, with a Sergeant’s permission, remove their hats and jackets but must remain in the rest of their uniform.

Privates will be allowed three fails each day for the course of the entire weekly task.

Privates should address the Sergeants as Sir. Sergeants will be permitted to instruct the Privates to carry out duties for them. If a Sergeant is in need of anything, the Privates must be ready to help.

BIG BROTHER SARGEANTS TO ISSUE PRIVATES WITH FIRST ASSIGNMENT

This afternoon, at approximately 5pm, Big Brigadier's new Sargeants - Michelle and Jason - will issue their six Privates with their first assignment of the week, to test teamwork and perseverance.

In order to pass this assignment, Privates must peel 500 potatoes, which will have been placed in the garden. They must use the materials provided and return them to the storeroom in the buckets. Privates have two hours to complete this assignment and only clean potatoes with their entire skin removed will be accepted.

Big Brigadier will provide the Privates with the following items to assist them with their assignment: Scrubbing brushes, Gloves, Stools, Buckets and Potato Peelers. The Privates must put their Gloves on before peeling the potatoes.

The storeroom will be opened 1 hour and 50 minutes after the assignment begins for Privates to deliver their peeled potatoes. The storeroom will remain open for 10 minutes.

Their time starts as soon as they finish reading their instructions.

As Sargeants, Michelle and Jason are unable to take part in the assignment but must motivate, organise and discipline the six Privates.

*****************

Also, tonight at 10pm, the Privates must begin their night of Sentry Duty.. They will complete their shifts in pairs until 6am tomorrow morning.

Marching Orders
Day 46, 20:00
Monday 12 July

Just when the housemates thought their three-day boot camp task was over, they learned that there was actually one more challenge to fulfil.

But they needn't have worried, for Sergeants and Privates alike got the hang of their marching drill - designed to test co-ordination and discipline.

Some time after completing the shirt-ironing task, Sergeants Jason and Michelle were called to the Diary Room - and skipped of in the belief that they were going to be told whether they had passed or failed the weekly task.

They soon emerged to inform their subordinates that they had one more assignment.

The group had half an hour to learn the ten stages of a marching drill, using broomsticks instead of rifles.

Dishing out drill

Everyone hurried outside to practice standing to attention and so on. And pretty soon everyone had it in the bag (although initially Ahmed had failed to comprehend the different between Attention and At Ease, and Sergeant Michelle clearly had her favourite when she told Shell her effort was "perfectionate" - a brand new word).

As the trial period came to an end, the two Sergeants took it in turn to test each Private individually, while Big Brigadier looked on with an ever-watchful eye.

Nadia threw a mini wobbly when she was placed at the back of the line, and believed this to be a slight on her grasp of the drill in question, when in fact it was just to keep things in the order they'd been in during practice.

And there was a slight mishap involving Ahmed when he nearly fell off the gangplank in the garden after being dismissed.

Other than that, everything was just perfectionate.
