Default Rapper YG shot three times at Los Angeles recording studio

Quote:

Rapper YG was shot three times in the hip on Friday at a Los Angeles recording studio. The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. local time at Studio City, TMZ reports, citing law enforcement. A friend of the Compton rapper drove him to a nearby hospital; when police arrived and attempted to interview YG, he was reportedly "very uncooperative."

At the scene of the shooting, police reportedly found multiple shell casings and blood on the sidewalk. According to TMZ, who spoke to a representative for the rapper, YG's injuries are "not life threatening" and he's "doing fine," though the shooter has reportedly not been located. Representatives for YG did not immediately reply to Rolling Stone's request for comment.

In 2014, YG released his debut studio album, My Krazy Life, which focused on gang life in South Central Los Angeles. The rapper earned wide acclaim for the LP, which Rolling Stone named the year's second-best hip-hop release. In December, YG went deeper into the album's dark world, pairing the music with visuals to create the 30-minute short film Blame It on the Streets. The 25-year-old co-wrote the screenplay with director Darryl "Lucky" Rodgers, drawing inspiration from two key tracks, "BPT" and "Meet the Flockers," in an effort to depict his "life in the streets."

"It's a group of your homies, so it's a flock of y'all going out lurking, looking for some **** to rob," YG told Rolling Stone of the name. "That's why we call it flocking. I'm basically showing you the life behind those songs, you feel me?"
