And you see a singer that's dancing do you take that to mean that they're a good performer or dancer or both? To me I take it to mean that they're a good dancer because in the Music Industry you're suppose to be able to emote to be a good performer imo, and if all you're doing is dancing then it's not really showcasing your performing ability, even if your vocal is very good.
Poll will be coming shortly.

Not sure, sometimes I feel the dancing and staged routines detract from the performance,if I go to see a singer, then I want to hear them sing and perform songs appropriately.
However the norm now seems to be to have all these routines and jumping around the stage like fleas, which often to me, leave me wondering how a singer really can do that and also sing at the same time. It is good to have a show but as I said, if I am seeing a so called singer, then I want to hear them sing and put all that is necessary into the song, not just be jumping about. Moving to a song is fine but for me too much energetic display detracts from the overall performance and then vocals have inevitably suffered at times in concerts I have been to. (That is, if at times when they dancing about, they are actually even singing 'live' in the first place'). Last edited by joeysteele; 09-08-2015 at 10:50 AM. |

No. Just because they dance doesn't mean they sing well (ie, Cheryl).

No, it doesn't mean they're a good performer. It depends on many factors. It depends on the full package. Like Firewire mentioned, Cheryl Cole dances and sings yet is nothing special. It's hard to do, to be fair.
Michael Jackson/The Jacksons, Prince, James Brown, Elvis Presley and Janet Jackson just to name just some are what you call great performers. They could/can sing and dance to a high standard. Last edited by Ryan57; 09-08-2015 at 03:34 PM. |
