Default A Death Note film adaptation is happening

and they're looking to start the white washing early...

Quote:
Warner Bros. is in final negotiations with Paper Towns' star Nat Wolff to play the lead role in its upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular anime series Death Note.

According to Variety, Wolff will play a student who stumbles upon a notebook that grants him the ability to kill others by simply writing their name on one of its pages. The character, known by fans of the anime as Light Yagami, then finds himself hunted by the law after taking justice into his own hands.

Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs, Roy Lee, and Masi Oka are producing, with Adam Wingard directing the project for Warner Bros., which is set to begin production next spring.

Death Note originated as a manga, which ran from 2003 to 2006. It was later made into a popular anime series, as well as a few live-action movies that were released in Japan.
From IGN.

What an amazing choice to play a Japanese high school student.
