An simple loophole is allowing non-UK viewers to vote on The X Factor this year with the show's free app.


For only the second series, the X Factor's official app is once again providing five free votes each weekend, which can be used on the one act or split between multiple contestants.

Although the app is meant to only be available in the UK, a simple trick of registering a new iTunes User Account with any British address seems to work, while on Android devices you only need to change your location to the UK in the settings.

And because the app for both mobiles and tablets is free, no payment details need to be entered to verify the location of those downloading it.

On social media many users have been sharing screenshots of their votes coming from across the globe including Saudi Arabia's Mobily and the Philippines' Globe mobile networks.

Another trick to boost votes that both UK and non-UK viewers are using is registering multiple devices to vote.

The five free votes limit can be increased as each account is able to register up to six individual devices (e.g. a phone and a tablet), meaning the total amount of free votes available is 30.

What - if any - influence the loopholes have on the voting remains to be seen with the first set of results revealed live tonight on ITV.
