I wouldn't want a flat-out ban, but a lot more restriction is necessary I think.

The comparison doesn't carry the same logic though.
If you don't agree with halal meat, you can choose not to eat it. If you don't want fireworks disrupting your evening, you can't lower the volume. The noise is still there and seriously annoying.

I think loud ones should be banned, they disturb the peace and cause loads of problems - I understand people may want their own display but I think they should only be allowed the quiet kind.

Fireworks on Bonfire night, New Year's Eve and special occasions only, would suit me fine.

As I said before it make a real difference if you stop fireworks being sold to teenagers. They're probably mostly the ones setting them off in the street.

it is a common misconception that you can only let fireworks off on or around Guy Fawkes. You can in fact let fireworks off any time of year and any day of the week including Sundays, but you must let them off before 11pm.
Exceptions to the 11pm rule are: November 5th (Bonfire Night / Guy Fawkes): You can let fireworks off until midnight. December 31st (New Year’s Eve): You can let fireworks off until 1am. Diwali (11th November 2015*): You can let fireworks off until 1am. Chinese New Year (8th February 2016*): You can let fireworks off until 1am. *Source: Wikipedia articles Diwali and Chinese New Year. http://www.firework-review.org.uk/fi...s-regulations/

Most supermarkets ask for ID if you look under 25 so I'm not sure teenagers can be blamed

I think people should still use loud fireworks and quiet ones up until a certain time.. depending on where it is like if people do it in their back garden then fireworks should stop at around 11pm.. but if it's in woods/parks for festivals then 12am(aslong as they are not close to houses)

My idea of silent fireworks would solve the situation.

I agree there are no facts to back this up, and if in the case of the OP the fireworks were going off for two hours and 10 minutes that is a lot of money on fireworks so unlikely to be teenagers I've never been asked to buy any and I've never seen teenagers hanging around supermarkets asking other shoppers either |
