Four men have been arrested in the UK as part of a counter-terror operation led by Italian authorities, it has been confirmed.
Police in Italy had issued 17 arrest warrants for Iraqi Kurds in the Europe-wide blitz.
Norwegian media is reporting that a jailed Iraqi-born cleric and two others are being held on suspicion of their involvement in an alleged terror plot in Italy.
The UK arrests have been confirmed by Britain's North East Counter Terrorism Unit.
The men aged 38, 32, 33 and 52, were held at addresses in Hull, Derby, Birmingham and Sheffield and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
