Default Australia Pulls Nurofen Products From Shelves

And ours are Still a Con.

Same Pills despite High prices

http://news.sky.com/story/1605503/au...s-from-shelves

Well Done Down Under

[Nurofen Back Pain, Period Pain, Migraine Pain and
Tension Headache Products are in fact identical and the firm
has "engaged in misleading conduct" by labelling them for different
ailments, the Federal Court ruled.]

This was on a programme here a while back.
Money making con really, making people think that the tablet reaches the specific ailment directly, making the pain go away quicker.

such a scam.

i think most brits will not be objective though and will support the company just because it is a UK company.

That really is shameful though.

I buy the shop's own brand of paracetamol (for general pain) and ibuprofen (for muscle inflammation) and find they work just fine. I have never bought the fancy brand names. The drug is the same.

It's not just that all of the Nurofens are the same... they are all just iboprofen. It's the active pain-killing ingredient. Unbranded ibuprofen will do exactly the same thing.

Unbranded ibuprofen is about 40p. Nurofen is Ł2 - Ł3. It's insane.

Cheap paracetamol and ibuprofen or aspirin are the only over the counter pain medications you should ever need. If you have pain (genuinely) that requires anything more then you need a prescription painkiller...

All of the branded meds are 100% con.

[edited to add]Except purple CalPol... because it's ****ing delicious.

they haven't broken any marketing guidelines in the UK. If people really want to open that can of worms, it may be worth looking at the soap powder industry where there are 2 companies that make soap powder with dozens of different brands

they got caught and they should go down. hopefully it will encourage other brands to fix themselves before they face similar lawsuits

i will repeat again, they haven't broken any marketing guidelines in the UK. You can't say someone is guilty of fraud or whatever in the UK when they have conformed to the required guidelines.

well then it should force investigations into the UK guidelines, shouldn't it?

you mock america for forcing drug companies to list all of the side effects on their commercials, but in the UK, when are british people exposed to any realities about commercial medicines???

this should be a wake up call. at least americans are forced to hear the cold hard truths about drugs on our commercials, in britian you never hear anything about medications, it's all hidden behind the doctors door.
