Glut of TV shows about ultra rich people
There has been a spate of shows mainly on c4 and c4 about the super rich or ultra high net worth individuals (UHNWI)
This week alone has seen: Rich Kids of Instagram, Rich Kids Go Shopping, the Millionaires Gift Guide
Plus recently there has been (rough approximation of titles) How the Rich Stay Healthy, How the Rich Celebrate Christmas, The Rich at Christmas, Eamonn and Ruth's How the Other Half Live, Britain's Flashiest Families, Million Pound Properties, Multi million Pound Properties, Million Pound Mega Yachts, Million Pound Super Cars, Britains Spending Secrets, Million Pound Hotel, Britians Mega Basements, How to Live Like Made in Chelsea, How the Rich Move House.
These shows must get huge social media buzz as there will be now shows in 2016 about how the rich send their kids to school , dating agencies catering to wealthy, and go on holidays are scheduled for broadcast later this year. Some of these shows were on at the same time.
Are these shows sure fire TV ratings winners, cheap to produce, marketable abroad? What gives? These shows give us a peak at how really affluent Brits and foreigners in UK splash their cash and the business who service their needs.
Dont get me wrong, I find some of these shows very entertaining especially the How to Live like Made in Chelsea with the highly obnoxious housing agency boss and Eamon Holmes How the Other Half Live but quite a few of the people featured are cropping up in other shows and even I find it's getting a bit OTT
