Our mums & dads are so important to us all and when we get moaned at by them, we usually still love them, don't we
![]() But, how do you react when they tell you what to do or go on at you or simply drive you mad ![]() ![]() ![]() 1) Do you do exactly what they say? 2) Do you ignore them completely and do what you like anyway? 3) Do you lie to them? 4) Do you shout back..? 5) or something completely different??? nodisharmony ![]() |

![]() I think that it does depend on each situation personally and that is why I didn't add a poll to this thread. I probably do 1) 2) & 4) in my options, when I pop round. I live quite near to my Mum & Dad, so I get to see them a lot, but the moaning seems to occur every visit. I have become immune, so to speak ![]() nodisharmony ![]() |

I know what you mean
![]() Ignoring is good, or another option is "Go Out!!" I know that my last ex-girlfriends mum shouted all the time and moaned non-stop, so she just used to say, "Okay, whatever", but basically do the opposite of what she said. It was her way of simply getting fed up with it all. nodisharmony ![]() |

I do listen to what they say, and usually do what they say. They do have my best interests are heart but sometimes my mum is over-protective so I just ignore her "words of advice". But yeah, I help out a lot and do chores whenever I'm asked... jesus I'm good.

![]() Some sons & daughters get on well with their parents and that is for anyone of any age, whether they live at home or only visit from time to time. I know a man of 50, who visits his mum of 80 often and he tries his best to care for her & has to put up with a lot. This thread is about anyone of any age who has a mum or dad still alive, regardless of what may be said from a critic ![]() ![]() I have my own place, but live only half a mile away from my parents and am very close to them, especially my mother & visit three times a week at least. I do get moaned at, but like I said already, it depends on the circumstances on how I react nodisharmony ![]() |

My mum still manages to make me feel naughty when she chooses even though I am a 36 year old married woman.
The thing I hate most and I know my girls hate most is the " we are so disappointed" words and the well known look that accompanies them. My hubby gets more annoyed with my parents than I do though, they will ring at stupid 0'clock in the evening or morning and ask for something silly to be done, last time was for a wooden floor to be collected even though it was not being layed for 6 weeks, they had to go get it "now" and when hubby said he was busy you would have thought the world had ended. I ended up finishing work, going to where hubby was working and collecting his van to take them for the flooring they were so desperate to have. Pains in the butt they may be BUT I love em! |

I've never gotten along with my parents, they've always prefered my two sisters and brother. I'm not sure why but it doesn't really bother me anymore. I prefer my dad though.
But anyway I hardly do what they ask me to do, there's just no point.. I just blank them completly, because that's what they do to me. I sneak out alot at night and get back in the early hours of the morning and they go mad.. which is kinda understandable. ![]() But saying that I don't get along with my little brother either, because he's my parent's favourite! |
