Default BB\'s Marco lands West End bit part

Evicted Big Brother housemate Marco Sabba has landed a role in a West End show. He will appear in Little by Little, a musical about a love triangle between a man and two women.

But the seal-clapping law student won't be playing one of the main parts - instead he has a non-singing cameo role as a "camp waiter".

The producers invited Marco to take the guest slot because they were impressed by his "uninhibited flamboyance and naturally effusive personality" on the Channel 4 show.

Director Benjamin Till said: "From his time in the house, it was obvious he had an understanding of and passion for musical theatre and his enthusiasm for the genre is what singled him out as the ideal choice."

Marco will also be employed handing out complimentary condoms to the audience after the curtain call.

The show, which was a hit off-Broadway, opens at the Arts Theatre on Sunday for just five performances.

It stars Paul Spicer, who played the lead role in the touring production of Boy George musical Taboo.

Oh what a shame Amy, I'm sure that whenever it is it's going to clash with one of Tony's gigs and I couldn't possibly go

EBay sounds lke a good plan to me, lets just hope that none of the potential bidders are watching BB5

I've just had an email from the producer of the show, with a Press Release about Marco's involvement.

Quote:
BIG BROTHER’S MARCO TO MAKE WEST END DEBUT IN ‘LITTLE by LITTLE’

Extrovert Big Brother evictee Marco Sabba will make his professional stage debut this month with a non-singing cameo role in the UK and European première of Little by Little, a musical about love, friendship, hormones and sex, which will open at the Arts Theatre in the West End on Sunday 25 July and play a strictly limited engagement of just five performances across three Sundays this Summer.

Marco was invited by the producers of Little by Little to fill a guest slot as the show’s camp waiter after they were impressed by his uninhibited flamboyance and naturally effusive personality during the time he spent in the Channel 4 reality TV programme’s now infamous house. Commenting on the casting, Benjamin Till, director of Little by Little, says:

“In casting the cameo role, we were looking for someone with an instantly identifiable character, someone who young audiences would relate to and someone with a strong enough personality that would enable them to be themselves on stage. Endless ideas were considered, but in the end, Marco was everyone’s preferred choice. From his time in the house, it was obvious he had an understanding of and passion for musical theatre and his enthusiasm for the genre is what singled him out as the ideal choice.”

As a long-term musical theatre enthusiast, Marco is delighted at the opportunity to be appearing in his first ever West End show, which will be headlined by young musical theatre star Paul Spicer, who returns to the West End after playing the lead role of Billy opposite Julian Clary in the UK tour of the Boy George musical Taboo and Julie Atherton, whose credits include Sophie in Mamma Mia and Serena in Fame. Marco says:

“It’s a privilege to have been asked to work alongside such talented actors and on such an exciting new piece of theatre, which is being performed in the UK for the first time.”

In addition to his role in the show, Marco will also be lending a hand after the curtain comes down in distributing complimentary condoms to audiences courtesy of Trojan Condoms, who are supporting the show in a tongue-in-cheek gesture to ensure that audiences are prepared for whatever else their evenings may hold in store.

Since being evicted from the Big Brother house in week 5 of the show, 21 year old Marco has been readjusting to life on the outside and contemplating his future, which will most likely see him return to university in September this year to complete his Law degree, after which he has no definite plans. For now, he’s happy to be enjoying his new found fame.

Little by Little examines the ever-blurred boundaries between friendship and love. Just how attracted are we to those we call friends? Can friends ever be lovers? Lovers ever friends? Three young adults discover hidden depths to their seemingly straightforward relationships in this fun-fuelled musical full of youthful passion and libidinous longing, which will play at the Arts Theatre, London WC2 on Sunday 25 July and Sundays 8 and 22 August.
