I wouldnt say they were just 'simple biological/neurological facts', sure how were wired up plays its part, but I think upbringing plays a definite role due to the social norms in place. It follows closely to girls being put in dresses and boys being made to play with action men and toy guns.

Neh. Because "equality" doesn't mean, or have to mean, "exactly the same". Males are in general physically larger and stronger, have better spatial awareness, and are better wired for logical / technical thinking which makes males (in general) better suited to manual labour than females.

I thought that left brained/right brained men are from mars women from venus stuff had been debunked?
What job would women in all seriousness be excluded from due to all the physical and mental restrictions they have?...

It's not about being excluded and it's not about absolutes, you're finding offense where there's none implied.

Its not about exclusion or anything. Just generally, men have more strength than women. obviously there are exceptions to the rule though.

I kinda dislike these kind of topics as I don't taker the 'typical' view that men and women are actually exactly the same and completely equal. I disagree. manual labour is better for men as (again typically) they have more strength than women. And personally I think women are better at jobs such as nursing as they tend to be more...empathetic and caring.

I would probably rather have a male firefighter come to my house to carry me down the stairs and save me from a fire, then have a nice friendly female nurse to get me back to health, than the other way around..

Maybe I am sexist deep down. Maybe I was just brought up with old fashioned views...I don't know. But I have always thought some jobs are simply better for one gender or the other :S

I totally agree. Men and women are totally different and always will be. I understand arguments about equal pay and everything, but otherwise i don't think men and women will ever be equal. It's not realistic and we shouldnt try to make it realistic

Of course both should be paid equally for the same job. Some seem to have taken it too far though and seem tow ant equal pay regardless of what job is done

Mind, this equal pay stuff was great for my dad. He worked in the prisons on the computers and was earning less than the people who actually worked with the prisoners. This whole equal pay malarky started and as my dad was the same 'grade' or something in his equivalent post,. he got his pay backdated for years to that of the people who work with the actual prisoners, came away with about 20k. Hope I explained that right

I know this isn't a very popular opinion, but I agree Vicky.

I agree with this and I don't think its being at all sexist. There will always be exceptions but they are exceptions.

When I did that six months of hard labour I was already fit, healthy and strong but doing that sort of work day in, day out nearly broke me. I'm happy to accept that I can occasionally put my hand to that kind of thing but if I did it for a living, I'd not only suffer but I'd be holding the team back.

Men genuinely worry about women as well. We had a team of men working on our project and they did worry about me doing certain things (especially with a nail gun!) even though I was capable. When it came to carrying anything heavy they'd down their tools and come and help me. They wouldn't of had to do that if I'd been a man.

Because generally, rightly or wrongly, men have more interest in...and are better at...manual labour jobs.

I don't think it helps when women have the piss took out of them either tbh. A friend of mine did mechanics when she left school. Has been fully qualified for like 10 years now and STILL gets people 'waiting for the boss' when they take a car in as they don't want a woman fixing their car?!

Depends whats wrong with it

There is plenty of money in programming and stuff. 2 of the people in my dads office at the prison were women. Women also tend to do office clerk-y jobs more often than men, which require computer skills.

exactly.....its nothing to do with immense strength....women can fight on the front line, female sportswomen are immensely fit and strong ....so why cant they do drainage , plumbing, road works, tiling, roofing, electricians, etc why are there so few?

It's not the free speech that's making me uncomfortable, it's the blatant misogyny and sexism.
