From The Daily Star
SPICE Girls creator Simon Fuller is facing a backlash over his new pop idea – the Spice Boys. He wants to produce a TV show that would form a male version of the Spices. Fuller, 47, reckons the idea could be a massive hit on the back of the current Spice Girls reunion. But his plan has failed to curry favour with the original Spice Boys – a group of Indian chefs based in London. They are Atul Kotchhar, Cyrus Todiwala, Surjan Singh Jolly, Puneet Arora and Manpreet Singh Ahuja. The nickname was invented by Trevor Krueger, deputy editor of new Asian food magazine Spice Life. And he is not happy to learn that Fuller is planning to pinch the idea. Trevor, 47, fumed: “My guys are the real Spice Boys – and they’re hotter. “It was my idea to create the Spice Boys as a way to publicise our mag launch. “We were planning to make a CD and have tracks on YouTube and other websites. “We were even going to approach Simon Fuller with the idea. Now we are prepared to fight for the name. I guess it will spice up the competition!” A music industry source said Fuller was planning to hold Pop Idol-style auditions to find five lads and create a global group. The source added: “Simon is really excited and thinks they will be a massive hit.” http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news_detail.html?sku=2052 |
