Leather Trumpet, it was obvious IMHO that the Poch was going to field a weak side. Don't know why everyone is shocked. His priority is the PL and at least getting top 4 which they are on brink of achieving. They dropped points against in last 2 games so need to keep pressure on Leicester. 4 more wins and Spurs will be in CL next season guaranteed, starting with AV. In fact AV and Bournemouth are Spurs next games, on paper highly winnable, yet they don't want these 2 teams to do what Leicester did last season and go on a run of wins. AV are where Leicester were last season. They need to make sure the likes of Kane will contribute and thrash AV.
Spurs don't need to be in the EUROPA league - they have almost qualified for the champions league and may even get title. EUROPA for last few seasons is just being used to blood in inexperienced players , get them used to playing superior opposition. Whereas Liverpool and Man U need to win EUROPA to have chance of playing CL next season I feel sorry for the fans who shelled out cash on travel, tickets etc. It's bit of a con as Spurs didn't reveal the team selection until really late. They made out this was going to be a good match up, battle of the teams Bundesliga and Premier League #2 in their leagues. To be fair even if Spurs had a full strength side it would probably have been a defeat to Dortmund just 2-1 rather than 3-0. Might as well rest Kane and bring him on as a token gesture to keep fans on side. Last edited by alex_front2; 11-03-2016 at 08:09 PM. |

They won't. AV even lost 3-0 to AV U21. AV is not even the best AV side. That's shocking.
More likely IMHO is Newcastle drawing or beating Leicester. Last edited by alex_front2; 11-03-2016 at 08:12 PM. |

To be honest the Poch should have fielded a strong side as it would have blooded them into European football. BDortmund really should have been in CL and they recently drew with BMunch.
It would have been a test to see how Spurs are with the elite. What's the point of trying to get into Europe in CL if you don't turn up to dress rehearsal. This is the Poch's first mistake. Knocking out BDortmund would have made Spurs 80% more likely to win Europa league and given confidence that they can cut it in CL. Wasted opportunity. They would have got turned inside out even with their strongest side.
Spurs are a poor side in European terms so they benefit from not putting out their best side. They will fair better by concentrating on getting into European competition for a few years running and learning the ropes rather than going balls to the wall and losing and in the process tiring out/injuring players that could have helped them qualify for next seasons European competitions. But if they can't do it now with BDortmund what hope do they have next season in CL against Atletico Madrid, let alone Barca.

You would think, but won't happen. They will charge a premium for Euro football with no intention of delivering. The Poch, Dier, Pamela et AL in pre match conference/media will quote the usual BS about how "they can do it at WHL". IT'S just to sell tickets. It's all over.
