In which case they're playing a good,or at least sensible game by getting rid of who they see as competition. Is't what any of us would-get rid of the threats to us winning?

And they are to stupid to work out that by voting him out, they potentially reduce their own chances of winning. IE the people they heard cheering for him will vote for anyone other than them to win.
