Default \'Big Brother 5\' houseguests unveiled

By JOHN POWELL -- Jam! Showbiz
Who would be willing to sacrifice their privacy for a chance to win $500,000 U.S.? 'Big Brother' fans got their answer today as CBS revealed the identities of the 13 'Big Brother 5' houseguests.

Comprised mostly of swinging singles in their 20's, this year's selection of competitors features only two married players and one who is engaged.

Old folks didn't fare well in the selection process either as Mike Lubinski, a single dad and commercial printer from Michigan, is the only houseguest over 40-years-old.

The houseguests do come from a variety of backgrounds though. There is a web designer, a volunteer firefighter, a yoga instructor, a registered nurse, a mortician and a model.

Here is the official list:

More information on the houseguests can be found at the official 'Big Brother 5' site.

CBS has also announced some changes to the 'Big Brother' house itself. There is a cloud or fluffy bedroom, a wood and cement one. In the cement bedroom, the beds are actually made out of concrete. The houseguests will also not have a basketball court to use this year. It has been replaced by a putting green and a kick boxing station. Small sharks populate the fish tank.

'Big Brother 5' debuts on Tuesday, July 6th on CBS. On the 'Big Brother' series, a group of strangers will live together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As the outside world watches on television and the Internet, the HouseGuests will vote each other out, one by one, until only one remains and goes home a half million dollars richer.

Here's some more news about BBUSA and it sounds interesting.

US Big Brother gets off to twisted start

Whilst our housemates continue their unsponsored silence, the US edition of Big Brother 5 got underway last night, with more twists than you thought possible.

The twelve houseguests are Adria, Diane, Drew, Holly, Jase, Jennifer, Karen, Lori, Marvin, Michael, Mike, Scott and Will.

The houseguests entererd to find their were only places for 11 to sleep, with Marvin "taking one for the team" and claiming the Z-Bed. Five of the houseguests also found themselves sleeping on army-style bunks, much to their displeasure.

First up was the food challenge, where there was a spiral ladder rotating high above the garden and houseguests had to pick yellow balls off of a DNA type structure, each yellow ball representing a food item. They managed to get a large amount of these yellow balls.

Lori (who had the ball labelled "Lobster Tails") was told to open the ball and found a key. She then used this key to open a box which had $10'000 in cash inside. She then decided to take the cash and forfeit the weeks shopping.

The second twist was the reveleation that, unknown to them, Michael and Jennifer were half-brother or sister.. Michael discovered this by asking Jennifer her surname, and then pressed for information on their father. The episode left the link unknown to Jennifer however.

The final twist revealed so far is that there are twins in the house... well, there's one twin, swapping in and out of the house all series! Since the episode aired, nominations have also been made, however we will not reveal those until the episode has aired in the United States.

The slogan of the show is DNA - Do Not Assume... I think we can already assume this is a show not to be missed.

Notes:

- E4 have as yet indicated they have no plans to air US Big Brother.
I like the twins idea

I hope they do screen it again. I think most of this year's UK housemates must have watched it because they have copied the game plan/liaison way that the American version works. I remember last year they had a number of ex partners in with them, perhaps that could be something we could think of doing. The only thing I dont like about this BB is the fact that viewers do not have a say in evictions. But it sounds like they have some good ideas this year.

Want to watch the show live from America?

This is a link to a live broadcast of a CBS station. mms://199.218.4.68/10tvlive

Here's the schedule - http://www.10tv.com/Global/link.asp?...5&nav=LtGeMImP - 5 hours behind the UK.

It's showing a soap opera at the moment lol.

You can also watch it live 24/7 if you have a real player super pass ($9.95 a month).

It's better than watching BB5 UK on the web in that you get four camera's to pick from.... unlike the one camera you are stuck with in the UK.
