Surprised this doesn't matter to people who hate stereotyping. Thoughtful UX (user experience) can contribute a great deal to advancing progress in the areas of social change. I don't have to agree with all the politics behind racial issues, but I think changes like this show a great deal of gratitude to those who report information and may also encourage minority groups to report crimes as well if they feel the community is less antagonistic towards them.

My own Nextdoor doesn't have these issues as I live in a very mixed area, but I like that it encourages self-accountability when it comes to the reporting of information to law enforcement and other mediums.
