Doesn't mean much though... Both are absolutely terrible and a bleak future is ahead regardless.

..yeah totally this, Leon...I mean if it wasn't so awful, it would feel like a huge joke/almost funny...one of the most important jobs in the world and these are the two people that we're left with...of the whole population of America in terms of those in politics, really..?...any other job of far, far less importance if the candidates were so dire then the whole process would start again to find the right person..people wouldn't just 'make do' but not when it comes to a world leader though/bizarre...I can't get behind Hilary as being 'better than' or not as bad as etc because that should just never be a reason for something so important as this...you should vote for something because of something/because of positive reasons and not because of negatives of the alternative that you wouldn't want...

It's actually perfect.

Basically. I'm writing in my vote. I can't vote for either out of principle. Neither are fit and I can't stomach voting for someone who I don't think deserves my vote. I would rather write in Bear as my presidential vote.

Truly, I think in part we face these issues because the political mainstream has become akin to a wrestling match (that is two extreme rivalries up against either ends). This has meant full on pandering to some of the most lopsided politically spectrum of our country in order to get access to the political stage (i.e. get ratings) which is how we ended up with Trump.

Calm and steady leadership doesn't get media coverage and subsequently, less funding. It's impossible to run a presidential campaign without having tons of "connections" (in other words, sell out) and lots of $$$ from the outset. That said, I don't know who could replace them that people will actually vote for... our politics are in a dire state. Even if you get someone up there who is decent, they won't get adequate coverage unless they've already been vetted by the public in some manner by going viral, etc.

I still recommend this article to people because it mentions how some of the inner workings of our political system have been changed in such a way that aided the process of completely disintegrating bipartisanship.

How American Politics Went Insane
It happened gradually—and until the U.S. figures out how to treat the problem, it will only get worse.
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/...insane/485570/

Personally I think we are headed for inevitable change on a cultural scale like we've never seen before, partly due to the internet, and that the public outcry is simply the start of many growing pains as people adjust to getting along in a culturally mixed society that doesn't have a strong centered mainstream narrative anymore to guide it. I don't think either parties are relevant anymore and are running on outdated modes of thinking. I would like to see the two football teams broken up and made into a 3-4 party system so that different demographics are more properly represented... a two party system just doesn't cut it anymore when the voice of Americans is too varied, too complex to carry with one single choose this or that narrative...
