I too have mixed feelings on this, and have came to a conclusion. If we bring back "capital punishment" as such, then we need to have strict guidelines surrounding it. The punishment should depend on many factors such as 'strength of evidence', 'aggression/violence of crime' and 'likelihood to re-comitt' as well as taking into account Psychological reasoning.

I think if the conditions are that there is very strong evidence/a confession, a very violent crime, and under Psychological analysis are likely to re-comitt then I see capital punishment as something that could be used in this instance.

However, people saying this is a good way to ease prison crowding - so would getting rid of luxuries, sticking the prison in a remote place, and providing them with the bare minimum to survive - this will discourage future offences, suddenly prison doesn't seem such a viable option, will also prevent early releases and re-offences, cheaper to run, and there won't be overcrowding.
