Default Have you had any revelations about yourself lately??

As in, an awareness about yourself that may have always been there, or has recently developed/changed... whether physical or mental?

For example... I just realized that I have dimples. I have like three of them on my chin that I never in my life knew existed. I thought it was a new thing because my face changed shape this summer with weight loss... but my daughter tells me that I have always had them.
I used to fantasize about having dimples when I was young.... I thought they would be lovely to have....that and freckles.... and I was always jealous of my best friend for them.
Now, I see them every time I look in the mirror... it fascinates me.

Lots of things lately, especially medical stuff. I am finding out things that have been harder to pin about myself are abundantly clear these days. That simple hunches I'd easily dismissed about myself over time have proven to be correct. I also apparently am really good at my job.

Also, life isn't as hard as it looks sometimes. 9 times out of 10, it's much simpler or can be made simple, but people create a lot of issues for themselves by following their "for sure" life narratives...like you can actually break away from all that, be healthy, happy and responsible and don't have to overly worry about all the rest. Life is not a resistance.

Any examples Maru?

Idk about the life is simple bit. I guess I haven't reached this epiphany yet...this higher state/nirvana if you will. Seems pretty ****ing difficult of late.

Yes, last Friday I realised my flippant " I am as blind as a bat" was actually a reality.
Thankfully I am getting fast tracked for my cataract ops and the NHS have agreed funding for me to go private.
Mentally, as I get older I have realised that looking back at things I saw as monumental choices or worries were mere blips, learn from it and don't worry too much about anything life has to throw at me.

Thank you Ammi, so am I.
My iPad is under my chin as I write..with extra magnified glasses from the cheap shop.
Optician can't give me glasses as he reckons I am off the scale.
I have only good things to say about the NHS.

Lol. I have always worn glasses to hide behind to. I only used contacts for a brief time in my youth for sport.... but not really outside of that

Oh I'm not disputing life can still be difficult. I just don't think it's to be stressed to the extent that we tend to stress it when things that challenge us happen. I tackle them as learning experiences now.

Most of my examples are highly personalized, so it's hard to be specific without a lot of detail. In short, I've had a lot of medical problems the past two decades as well as getting my business up and running in addition to occasional family stuff, getting my degree, working/not working due to illness. I had to learn to destress and adopt better habits just to survive. However, there's a big difference between surviving and coping and actually overcoming obstacles... at my worst, I was floating barely above water trying to do the latter and learned that there are a lot of things we put on ourselves that aren't necessarily fair... like you can't control other people's drama, their choices or viewpoints... but you can control your proximity to it and how much space you decide to make for it in your life/space, how it effects you and your choices, etc.

Eventually, I became very good at listening to my body which helped me to solve many of those health issues, handling my family business without accepting other people's ****, adopting a routine, staying organized and in general, living a life centered around being healthy, not forcing or trying to find new ways manufacture/manifest happiness in your life... if that makes any sense. The latter usually involves far more work (much of which is redundant work) than we think and is not actually as necessary to achieve a peace of mind/feeling centered.

There is a lot that goes with this and I could be more specific, but I think everybody is different.

Oh new epiphany... I am finally aging

I have some small lines going down as a V on the front of my chest. They're fairly apparent now. It's just such a weird spot to get those tiny lines.

I get what you are saying... I am maybe in the midst of a few of these revelations myself... but maybe still feel like I am barely keeping my head above water.
I appreciate your candid and honest responses on this forum btw.

...awwww.....I think that's it Braden with these decisions and choices..knowing which ones fit us best and then feeling good with our choices and happy with them..so then that builds mentally which builds physically and etc etc.../being happy with who you are I think is basically what you're doing in feeling healthy... and who you are looks pretty fine to me....
