Default Mel and Sue have a new job

BBC One's Let's Dance for Comic Relief will be back next year with a singing twist.

Earlier this month, BBC One announced Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief, a spin-off of the original Let's Dance contest.

Let's Dance originally ran for five series as part of the annual Comic and Sport Relief fundraisers until being dropped in 2013.

The comedy talent contest involved celebrities mimicking iconic dance routines. Highlights included Robert Webb's take on 'Flashdance' and Rufus Hound recreating Cheryl's 'Fight For This Love'.

But it'll return next year and this time the celebs will have to dance AND sing.

Today Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins were confirmed as hosts of the (sort of) brand new Saturday night prime time show.

Mel and Sue will bring their own formidable and comic double act to Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief with access all areas to the performing celebrities’ routines, breath-taking – in more ways than one – vocals.

Mel Giedroyc quipped: “Since leaving the Royal Ballet twelve years ago, Mel is really looking forward to getting back on her points and showing the brave Comic Relief celebrity dancers how to split leap and ball change. She's delighted to be taking time out from her busy schedule at the Royal Opera House (she was recently called "a complete and utter Tosca" in the starring role of the eponymous opera) to take part in co-hosting duties for Let's Sing and Dance For Comic Relief.”

Sue Perkins dded: “I’m thrilled to be co-presenting Lets Sing and Dance for Comic Relief, not least because it will finally show the world why I was voted West Penwith's Krumping Champion (over 40s category).”
