It seems with the exception of BB6 all the even numbered series were bad (BB6 was good, but was still not as good as it's predecessor BB5) and all the odd numbered series were good. So as long as there is not another exception to the rule, could BB9 be brilliant? Or is this just wishful thinking lol.

That's exactly the same way that I think of them. I loved BB5 to death, BB6 was extremely good but doesn't have the legendary factor of BB5. I think that Big Brother 2008 will be very good because supposedly Phil Edgar-Jones is coming back.

Yep I agree for BB6 it was legendary but BB5 had that "factor" who makes BB5 brilliant !
