Hey guys!
So I've been pondering over food and about my relationship with it. I was quite a chunky kid, then not eating at all and loosing loads of weight, which slowly crept back on during my adult years. In the last year i have put on over a stone due to me going from a manager in retail (running around all day) to sitting at an office all day. I'm sometimes okay with my bigger frame but other times it really gets me down. Does it stop me eating? Not at the time but afterwards i reflect (like right now) and grab my fat and regret what ive just eaten. I wouldnt say I have an eating disorder however my relationship with food is like drinking - I love it at the time but regret it later on. I want to lose weight but the temptation is always there and i give into it. My ex-flatmate had anorexia and is now married and pregnant so she has overcome an eating disorder however she still says her relationship with food is bad as she is constantly still watching what she eats. Have you ever been big and lost weight? Have you gained weight recently? Would you say your relationship with food has hindered you in your life? Its a weird one and not as easy to just 'stop eating'. |

I was much bigger about 3 years ago when I was in school, I think a lot of my issues boiled down to being bullied - I comfort ate a lot.
I now eat much healthier, infact I annoy people because of how healthy I am

I find that if most of the time you eat healthily, then occasional chocolate and crisps do no harm. My weight has stayed the same for years (I could lose 10ibs, but what the heck) which I think is due to the fact that I eat only when I'm hungry. I realise that set meal times are necessary for some, but whenever possible just eat when your body tells you to eat.

Was chubby from about the age of 10 to 14 so I had a bad relationship with food then.
I just try and eat healthy and balanced nowadays but did go through a period of not wanting to eat anything in fear of becoming fat again. |

Thankfully food for me was never used as a comforter, when I'm upset or stressed I stop eating rather than eat more. I remember speaking to someone about that before and that person did the opposite and we were wondering was it something that stemmed from childhood and whether parents used food to comfort you as a kid or not

Imagine an extreme abusive relationship with the couple beating each other up everyday and being alcoholic and drugs addicts...
That's my relationship with food. Last edited by Will.; 20-11-2016 at 10:55 AM. |
