I watched some of Brians "Stalking" for want of a better description just before sam started crying and it was quite uncomfortable for Amanda.
I think Brian has ruined any chance of friendship out of the house. If he can't stop his sexual obsession with her she won't be able to feel content with him as a friend.
When out of the house I think it has to be one or the other. Full on relationship or a complete break with no friendship...
