Context is always needed, it's never quite as black and white as many make out. As i said in my above post, although i can't recollect all that much from that series i do vaguely remember Danielle being extremely naive and being for the majority of time more of a follower in that whole incident as opposed to an instigator. In fact, only last night i watched the first 15 mins or so of a show that Danielle was on where she admitted that she was never fully accepted by girls at a young age, that in itself would offer one possible explanation as to why she did not deter from that group even after all the bullying towards Shilpa. Not saying it is, but i guess it's possible considering she is a person that seeks acceptance.

If she were to behave the same way again then it would be reasonable to come to the conclusion that nothing has changed and that she'd behave the same way again in the future. But if you only judge people by their past then that suggests that people are stagnant, which more often than not is not the case. People change, still calling her scum for an incident that happened a decade ago is a tad harsh.

I could be wrong but for me she was young and naive, she made innocent comments without consciously understanding their full impact, she was wrong but it happens. For example you comparing her to an STI or Cancer is pretty extreme, if you made those comments in the house i'm sure there would be a ton of posts on here in apparent outrage, criticizing you for being inconsiderate towards others etc. ****ty comments are made innocently sometimes, doesn't necessarily make the person behind them a bad person.

Just found this, a nice mature response from Shilpa, also pretty chuffed to find out that Shilpa, who experienced the incident first hand, read the situation exactly how i've just described it (follower etc).....pretty impressive considering i only vaguely remember.

Her being a follower isn't some kind of excuse nor does it diminish any of her vile actions. She knew what she was doing.

Yes she did it to look big and clever but she clearly hadn't matured since as she doesn't simply own up to being an immature bully trying to impress girls she looked up to.

No instead she's blaming those girls as though they forced those words from her mouth when the footage shows us she actually came out with far more racism than these girls that supposedly led this innocent little Liverpudlian astray.

An absolute insult to shilpa to not even acknowledge any wrong doing.

Never said she was innocent, never said she should be excused, in fact i said she shouldn't be excused in my very first post. I'm merely making the point that continuing to judge, slate and abuse someone for an incident that happened nearly decade ago is imo ridiculous, particularly when an individual was young and naive at the time. I'm not referring solely to Danielle here, i'm talking about people in general. **** happens, people make mistakes, it's how you respond to mistakes that ultimately determines what kind of a person you are.

But fair enough, if you see it differently then fine, we'll agree to disagree, no harm in that.
