POLICE in Spain are investigating a reported sighting of missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann.
On Tuesday two women reported seeing a youngster matching Madeleine’s description with a man at a petrol station near Cartagena, in the south east of the country. The women told police the child had been holding the man’s hand, and that when he felt he was being watched he led her quickly into the car and drove off. No details about the car or the man have been released by authorities to avoid compromising the investigation. The Spanish National Police and Civil Guard are cooperating on the case, and have carried out a series of interviews with potential witnesses. Numerous sightings of Madeleine have been reported across Europe and North Africa, including in Belgium, Malta and Morocco. A spokesman for the Find Madeleine campaign said they do not comment on reported sightings. But Madeleine’s father Gerry McCann earlier said there was a “very real possibility” his daughter was in Spain. THE SUN |

Even though we all wish it were true, it's probably another false alarm.

I refuse to believe any "sightings" - the second the story became so publicsed, whoever had taken her (if she was ever taken - I believe it's now suspected she died that night, and wasn't taken, simply her body has been hidden) would have "gotten rid" of her, unfortunately. I'm afraid it seems cast iron that she's dead, which is very sad, of course.

I really want Madeline to be found alive, it would be such a great thing to happen, but these Newspaper articles are very worrying. There are plenty of them and some will just be hoaxes or confusion. Her parents have really spent sooooo much time on this and I applaud them. Many children go missing all the time, but this particular case, is one of the most publicised ever

I want to believe she is alive but we have to face the realisation that she may not be. Theres been numerous sightings and with each and every one I hope it's truly her - but so far it hasn't been. I'm keeping hope alive for the moment.

I hated when the person who said they saw her in Belgium was "100%" that it was her!! Seriously, don't say 100% unless you mean it, they raised so many people's hopes up.

I think that the sad thing is people will actually be looking into the face of every little girl and thinking they see Maddie if there is even a slight resemblence as most people across the world would like to see that little girl found alive. I doubt very much that after all this time and media interest that she will ever be found safe, but I will continue to hope.
