Default Married Couple/Civil partnership Allowance

I came across this online a few weeks ago, its been a bit of a flop mainly as it is not very well publicised, basically if you or your married partner earn less than 11,000 and your partner earns more you can transfer some of your tax free allowance to them or vice versa giving you an extra £212 in your wages over the year, it doesn't seem alot but every little bit helps and better in your pocket than in the government coffers and if you haven't claimed it will be backdated to April 2015 to when it was implemented giving you a windfall of over 400.00 which is paid by cheque.

link here to apply if you qualify

Yeah I found this last summer and got about £300 backdated . The amount per month isn't huge but the backdated lump sum was nice as it was unexpected cash and therefore an instant split'n'spend .

Lovely, I applied for it for a friend as she doesn't do computers, her paperwork with her changed tax code came a few days later, she is still waiting on the cheque but she has already spent it and she is taking me to dinner

bumping this,

if it doesn't apply to you tell your married friends, family members, squeeze as much out of the government until the pips squeek, don't be like TS and keep it to yourself
