I'm worried that I'll be gossiped about though and if it doesn't work out or gets messy I'll want to leave

It's kind of tricky because if it ends badly you have to see them most of times and it might be tense at the work place but then if it's worth it then go for it.

That's the only issue if it doesn't work out it could be a bit awkward, but if you think he is worth it go for it, you could always change teams if it doesn't go well
