X Factor 'a hit by default'

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER says X Factor is only celebrating huge ratings because his show is not on air.

The Lord, 59, said: “Last year it was up against Maria for a few weeks.

“We took a big chunk of their ratings. We were getting about six million and they were getting about seven million.

“So of course they are doing well this year — there’s nothing up against them.”

The ITV1 hit competed with BBC1’s Dance X for just two weeks — and trounced it, launching with 10.7million this month.

Meanwhile, Andrew is being deluged with TV offers and has just signed with the huge William Morris Agency in LA.

The multi-millionaire composer revealed he will be back on TV with a BBC Christmas special with all the Maria and Joseph finalists.

And he added: “I am still talking with the BBC for a show next year. But it won’t be one of my musicals.”

We told how BBC chiefs are debating whether to pick My Fair Lady or West Side Story.

Do i detect a hint of bitterness? I like the Andrew Lloyd Webber programs but X factor is better I think and will always beat ALW programs because X Factor has a bigger range of audience I think.

I didn't watch that, X Factor was on. I watched the Joseph one though, that wasn't bad.
