Default Beautiful Austrian girl converts to Islam, joins ISIS... gets beaten to death

I don't know exactly how to feel about this. This story is over a year old but I can't remember it getting any attention. I'm sharing this because this story should have been covered in great detail by the western media as a lesson to the youth (especially girls) in case they had similar ideas.

Why people leave democratic countries to join ISIS is beyond me.

I think it's because when you are so young, you tend to look at the world though rose coloured glasses and give things a 'romantic' slant. It's also the time when many young people feel immortal and quite self centred. They feel that they can change the world. Life is an adventure and they are the hero/heroine.
I remember being that age and thinking I had all the answers...then I grew up.

I completely agree with this. On the whole young people do see things that way, but such views are invariably changed by life experience. Silly, silly girls.

Think of the poor girls born into those countries though who never had any choice - at least the girls had one - however naive and blind.

Tragic story, foolish girls. I think Jenny's post nailed it.

Its not much to do with age, plenty older people join too.
I think it is a rose tinted glasses thing though. That, and a second pair of glasses that turns your current home in a dark cruel abyss.
Low IQ is the main problem imo.

I have no sympathy for anyone who joins them. The more they fight each other and the more of them die, the better.

Good point - she had some ideas in her head that were a bit worrying. Probably youthful angst and identity issues - but a girl with problems nevertheless. Sad though, she didn't deserve that. I wonder what happened to the other girl?

I don't feel sorry for her at all but I do have a lot of sympathy for her family.

I think it said on the report that the other girl was killed in an air strike.
