I don't bite my nails now, but I used to be terrible at it when I was younger, my parents and teachers were always catching me at it. When I had my braces I couldn't bite my nails but as soon as they got taken off it started again.

I've stopped nail biting for about 4 years now - it's the longest I've ever gone without doing so and can now say I've outgrown that particular habit.

I used to bite my fingernails when I was younger, but don't anymore.
I stopped because my parents used to give me a little star every time I didn't...
Also, I started becoming conscious of how they looked and wanted nice nails.
Not to mention that once I started doing so, biting them started to hurt my teeth.
Sometimes when trimming my nails I cut around the skin/cuticles and all that though, but that's to make them look nicer - not as a habit.
