I think he used Ann's comments as an excuse for kicking off, when he was really annoyed that he'd been nominated so many times, and because the younger girls nominated when he believed he had them all onside. That was an unexpected shock to him.

To me, his annoyance was due to a very bruised ego that couldn't cope with the thought he was up for eviction and that his sly, manipulative game hadn't worked.
