They're the most annoying thing about this series, they spoil it and make it depressing, and most of the sob stories are incredibly lame!
I wouldn't mind if we heard about their misfortunes at one point of the competiton, or even twice, but every single episode the same people are crying and bitching at us about how their uncle's best friend's dentist's wife's tragic death has inspired them to seek a new and better life on the X Factor. |

If I'm being honest I find them a little cringey.

Yeah, especially Niki.
EVERY show we hear about her Dad, although I'm not disrespecting her, I'm sure it was a big loss but we heard it in her audition and we get it, he gave her the form, I bet she'll be like 'MY DAD WILL BE PROUD' Bah. I might say that I lost my finger nail and it grew back, see if that gets me to the final. |

Everytime the girl who faced the "life threatening illness" is introduced, they mention the fact she faced a life threatening illness. Plus, that combined with the fact she's always crying = I feel as though she isn't in there based on pure talent, but people feeling sorry for her.
People who haven't faced life threatening conditions can't help that can they? And it saddens me to think some people may lose out on their dreams, because lots of nice people around the country voted for the girl who's been hard done by. If you genuinely only like people for their talent and personality, then you're free to like them. If just the smallest part of you likes them because you think "they deserve a break" then that's not fair on people who've been lucky enough not to face any traumatic experiences in their lives. |
