For me its not so much about political differences, its about fundamentally different priorities in life. Young people are just not going to have the same priorities as those who have been around the block and this forum is hugely weighted toward the younger viewpoint.

Lets see what the situation is after another couple of generations of Big Brother
SD's is skewed (quite heavily) towards 35+ tho. The overall forum might be "younger" but to suggest that regular SD posters are on average "youngsters" is just false.

Is the right/left, tory/labour, remain/leave divide even relevant anymore though?

The most recently discussed threads on this section are
Toys R Us
Multi accounts
The weather
Patriotism
Snowmen
Diabetes
10p coins

I think people are still habitually agreeing and fighting with those they know to be (un)like them on the political side of things.

Hardly anybody in this thread has even responded to the OP!

Thats how I see it anyway. I had Kaz reiterate her views on the OP to me and questioning my views, despite my views on the OP being very similar to hers... Brillo came on and just disagreed with Smithy without responding herself, Cherie came on and just applauded Brillo without responding herself... Parm did the same despite Brillos post being nothing to do with the thread he created!

I'm sure there are other examples, it just seems like people are ready to disagree with those that theyre used to disagreeing with, without even reading their views, and agreeing with the same old people in every thread regardless too.
