Default do we take too much for granted these days?

I have always thought that we tend to take too much for granted in life. I remember 8 months back seeing my sister-in-law crying her eyes out when her mother was in hospital dying of cancer with only a short amount of time left and she was saying how much she wished she hadn't argued so much with her and things she should have done with her which she didn't do because of other stuff she was doing which she felt at that time was more important. She basically felt that she had taken her mum for granted all those years and now it was just all too late. No words could help her feel any better and I felt terrible at the time and helpless too.

Sadly she passed away about a couple or so weeks later and since then she has just become an emotional wreak. Totally messed up, almost at nervous-breakdown stage.

I have looked at life now through better eyes and try not to take too much for granted. Most of us have family members still with us and friends and aquaintances who we see and like a lot and basically we should be thankful that we are healthy and alive and have people who we can like, love, experience and not take them for granted that they will always be there and times will always be good because it won't always be that way. Nothing good lasts forever - as they say.

Does anyone feel like that sometimes that we tend to take too much for granted and expect too much, just treat life like it is just another day and so what?

I know what you are saying. People always have regrets in life. The trouble is you can't take them back sometimes, and that is what screws you up in the end. "If only"

I haven't any regrets, what I've done is because I decided it and all the decisions I have taken were from me so I haven't any regrets. The "if only" quote, I don't need it at all.

Well you are very lucky if you can say you absolutely have NO regrets. You must live the perfect life Remy.

I sometimes take my family for granted. I think everyone takes something for granted, no matter what it is, even if it's having a bath with clean water stuff like that.

I haven't a perfect life. But for me, "if I" is a waste of time. Even if sometimes I was in a hard situation, I had no regrets about what happened because now I'm stronger.
I've never regreted what I've done and what I've chose.

i take things for granted all the time but in some situations we have to.
i mean im not exactly going to write a letter to my bus driver and thank him for driving. some things we have we are lucky for and should embrace them instead of regret taking these opotunites(???) we have been given.

I think we all take too much for granted these days.

We all expect the things we think are basic to be there, like tap water, electricity, money, food etc.. years ago these were not so basic and were something to be appreciated.

Also I think that we take friends and family for granted, I know I do! I try not to but I always think well they will be there if I need them.

As for having regrets, well yes I have many, none that I would care to discuss on here though xxx

We really do. In our circumstances, we're much more well-off, yet it's so difficult to see that sometimes. And it's difficult not to have at least some regrets. Nobody can live their life 100% perfectly.
