I think some teens could benefit from it,so many are ferrel and have no respect,so especially for young offenders it coud be a good thing. It may work off some of thier anger, aggresion and disrespect.

i'd rather kill myself than go in the military
i'm not sure i'd particularly enjoy one year in a charitable role either. for me it would certainly take the 'charitable'-ness out of the act if you're forced into doing it. Last edited by RichardG; 26-03-2018 at 05:51 PM. |

I wouldn’t be happy to see my children forced into doing something they have no interest in, would you.?

They could even spread the year over the 7 years.

No.
If it’s not a free choice then it wouldn’t work. |

Nope. Forcing something like that would be an incredibly backwards step.

Yes - it would benefit the multitudes of ill educated chavs we produce through poor sexual education and discipline.

**** no. Military service should be a choice, not something that's forced upon people.
It didn't help solve society's problems ills back when it was a thing and it won't solve any problems now. |

We don't take care of the veterans that chose military service, why would you want to throw people unwilling and unsuited to military service into situations they aren't prepared for and created more people that are damaged by their experiences and ignored by the state for it?

What constitutes "charitable"?
Working for free in a charity shop? Flying to a war zone to feed the starving? A big spectrum. Last edited by Marsh.; 26-03-2018 at 07:06 PM. |

I think it would be a good idea to sign up the unruly young people and repeat offenders. It could instil some discipline and respect into them. Also it may learn them how to take responsibility for their own actions.

I think some would certainly benefit from it but I don't think it should be forced.
