Default Dead boy in suitcase

The discovery of a young boy's body in a suitcase which was fished out of a pond by children has shocked Australia.

The children first thought they had found a dead pig, Sydney police said. The victim is thought to have been aged between four and eight.

Police are scouring schools for missing children after the grim discovery in the suburb of Ambarvale on Wednesday.

New South Wales state Premier Morris Iemma said the find of the naked body, wrapped in plastic, was "monstrous".

'Shockwaves'

One of the children who found the body said on Australian television: "We were riding on our scooters when a friend came up and said there was a dead pig down at the duck pond, so we went down to see.

"Me and my friend got sticks and flipped it over and then we saw that there was feet, so we went up to our houses to call the police."

Investigators said it was possible the child could have come from anywhere in Australia.

Police believe the suitcase had been floating in the pond for at least two days.

"Put simply, this is one of the most monstrous acts imaginable," the New South Wales premier told reporters on Thursday.

"The horrific discovery by a group of small children has understandably sent shockwaves through the local community," he added

They're not even aware of who it could be? And are looking for missing school children?

If nobody reported it, then perhaps it was a family member who killed them in the first place.

Tragic thing is, all murders that are never solved rarely make it onto our television screens. So the chances are there are multiple kids at the bottom of ponds, or adults buried in the woods, and nobody knows a thing about them.

Im sure a decent amount of people get away with murder every year, especially in specific countries.

I live not that far away from the duck pond (Mandurama Reserve) and its just sick that someone threw an innocent little 2 year old boy into the pond. I walk around there everyday and it is the last thing you would expect to find while minding your own business. What makes things worse is i know the boys who found the suitcase. I have seen what they are going through and what their families are going through and it is just terrible. The media bombarded our school to try and get them to talk to them... but that didnt work so they tried getting statements off anyone they could find... me included.
Its just so sad that a community who you never hear a word from has been shattered by a stupid idiot who killed a poor defenceless child. I just want whoever did it to be caught so we can have some sense of what we had before, even though this event has changed it forever.
RIP little one, never forgotten, forever in our hearts.
PS they are speculating that the parents might have done it because they havent come forward to report a missing child.
