[rquote=2509483&tid=133229&author=30stone]Arsenal are great, they just never have luck infront of goal.

Thats why i get annoyed.[/rquote]

Yeah its frustrating when we dominate a game and have so many shots on goal yet score like 1 or none. Remember that game aginst west ham a couple seasons ago? we had about 50 shots on goal, hit the post three times, and green had the game of his life. West ham pump the ball up field and score with their first chance, and end up winning 1-0.

It's not a case of buying goalscorers because we have players who can score - its just that sometimes we tend to overplay and make the extra pass instead of shooting. And sometimes we just have bad luck. Anyway the example I gave was 3 seasons ago and we've gotten more clinical in front of goal since then.

Arsenal have come to the defence of striker Eduardo da Silva ahead of his disciplinary hearing.

The Croatian international has been charged with ‘deceiving the referee’ after a fall earned his side a penalty in last Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Celtic at Emriates Stadium.

The Gunners have submitted a 19-page defence to the charges which UEFA described as ‘grossly unsporting’.

A fax received by Arsenal from UEFA general inspector Gerhard Kapl outlined that Eduardo "succeeded in deceiving the referee, who was influenced by the player's gross unsporting behaviour".

It added: "There are no exceptional circumstances that would justify a plea for mercy."

If found guilty, Eduardo faces a two-match European ban but it seems the Gunners will do everything they can to not allow that sanction to be imposed.

--------

Suppose it's worth a shot, even though we will be shot back down by the gimps at UEFA.

Manchester City are believed to be hot on the heels of Tottenham winger David Bentley.

Cashed-up City are prepared to part with Ł15million for the England international, making a move away from White Hart Lane imminent after just one year there.

With Spurs boss Harry Redknapp close to signing Martin Petrov for Ł5million from City, it seems a deal for Bentley is increasingly likely.

Everton, Aston Villa and Sunderland are also interested in Bentley but Eastlands looks his likely destination if a deal can be done.

Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill hopes to bolster his defence by signing Richard Dunne from Manchester City and James Collins from West Ham before the transfer window closes.

Both players have been linked with moves for the past week or so and it seems as though Dunne deal is the closest to being completed with the player agreeing to a three-year deal for a fee of Ł6million.

Villa are prepared to pay West Ham Ł5million for Welshman Collins as O’Neill is intent on strengthening his defence after recent departures and the retirement of skipper Martin Laursen.

Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga has agreed to compromise his wage demands in order to secure a move to Everton.

The 25-year old Holland international would have become Everton’s highest paid player if his demands of almost Ł80,000 per week were agreed to, but after talks involving Toffees officials and Heitinga’s management, a more reasonable sum has been negotiated.

The former Ajax man is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday and should complete the move before the 5pm transfer deadline.

Harry Redknapp is prepared to offer Portsmouth goalkeeper a long-term deal to lure him to Tottenham.

The Spurs boss is keen on James who is determined to leave Fratton Park in order to bolster his World Cup chances with the England team.

It is understood that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is concerned about signing a 39-year old but Redknapp is attempting to talk him into signing James on a two-year deal with the chance of a coaching job afterwards.

The fact that Spurs already have Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini on the books as goalkeepers may make it hard for Levy to say yes to a move but Redknapp seems determined to get his man.

Notts County are set to launch a last-minute bid for out of favour Manchester City striker Benjani.

The League Two club, led by sporting director Sven-Goran Eriksson, have already clinched the signing of Sol Campbell and now still have their sights set high.

Benjani signed for Eriksson when he was managing City in January 2008 but due to injury and incoming stars, has dropped down the pecking order under Mark Hughes.

A deal involving Benjani and Hull City recently broke down allowing Notts County to swoop and make the Zimbabwean their highest paid player.

Russian outfit Spartak Moscow are still hopeful of signing Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Spurs knocked back an offer from Spartak to re-sign him on loan last week but have launched a fresh bid.

The hefty price tag Spurs have put on Pavlyuchenko’s head has made Spartak reluctant, hence the idea of a loan deal.

Olympics sprint champ Usain Bolt says he's dumped Manchester United to cheer on Real Madrid.

Bolt admits he grew up supporting United, but explained: "Ruud van Nistelrooy is my favourite soccer player and therefore I supported him in Manchester, but now his club is Real Madrid and they're now my favourites because he is here.

"And also there is Cristiano (Ronaldo), who is a great friend."

Bolt saw Real defeat Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday and added: "It was a nice game and competitive, the one I most liked was Lass, who scored one goal and looks a bit like me when I play!"
