It's a pain in the arse but rebranding political protest (even protest of dubious matters) as breach of the peace is a very, very slippery slope that plenty of societies have gone down several times throughout both modern and ancient history. The overall results tend not to be great.

I mean this is being painted as unusual but it really isn't - how many Union Jack shaggers do you think have any real clue about the history of the United Kingdom, the Monarchy, etc? I'd going to hazard a guess at "almost none".
