[Leon boss warns longer lockdown 'will cost lives']

" Leon" One of the Few places still open
serving Hot Food - Take Away only.

[Extending lockdowns even by a matter of weeks
will "cost lives", the co-founder of fast-food
chain Leon has said.
John Vincent said businesses were
"at the heart of a functioning and healthy society"
and were losing money that should be going
to their employees and the government
through taxes.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said people should
be "optimistic but patient" about national lockdowns.

He will set out a road map for lifting England's
restrictions on Monday.]

[Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme,
Mr Vincent said it was "quite possible"
that Leon could fold "if weeks and
months drag on", as it was losing
around £200,000 a week.
That figure was more like £800,000 when
"what we would have been making"
is taken into account, he said.]

["That's money that isn't going into the economy,
it's not going into the wallets of the people
who work for Leon, and it's not going to
pay the taxes that we need to pay," he said.

"No one's asked us for these numbers,
so how does the government know what's
going on in the economy?"

He said there had been a
"pantomime of scientists against business"
during the pandemic - "as if there isn't one giant
shared agenda" - and the latter were "positioned
as the uncompassionate ones".]

Obviously the figures are lower as to the rises in the main, because of likely the lockdown.

To think they would not still be even more excessively out of control without the lockdown.
Would be in my view reckless thinking.
So if he takes risks again, that could prove devastating even moreso.

I don't think anything should be eased at all until the first week of April at the earliest.

No one who REALLY cares, can possibly want more and more unnecessary deaths to happen.

This is a scary time ...

A week or so ago we hearing about concerns regarding the various new variants that were popping up every couple of days .. a couple were showing worrying signs .,

Now the ‘day’ is approaching ( Monday) it’s all gone quiet on the variants front !!!!!

The media helps move emphasis Zizu.
I mean a week after he announced the lockdown, they started the when will we be coming out of it.

He has a group, an anti lockdown group of his own MPs who are pushing to just about be out of lockdown fully.

It's who he listens to in the end and does he stick to his original statement of no quick easing of restrictions.
Or cave I to his backbenchers and the media.

The new strains are there still.
Negative stuff has often for a time been swept under the carpet by this PM and his Ministers.
So it doesn't surprise me, we hear less of things like that.

Those shielding and the new grouping added to the shielding have had letters now telling them to shield until March 31st.
That's the wise move.

Plus since we're in the lockdown now, in my view anyway, the only responsible thing to do is leave all restrictions in place until then too.

Look at the first week of April for a more safe and more controlled virus period to come back from lockdown.

I'm hoping he sticks with his original seemingly determined caution he expressed.
However I don't trust him.

As I said, I see no point in returning schools back for just 3 weeks then off again at Easter.
When those 3 weeks and the 2 Easter week break, another 5 week period, could have us in a safer period as to the virus.

It's all the media are on about now however, pushing as to when and by how much the easing will start.

It is a very scary time, you're correct..
It shouldn't be made more scary by recklessness now by easing again too much too soon.

I hope he'll resist easing too much too soon.
I wouldn't ease anything until April myself if I had power however.

same, i would myself opt for mid or end of April

more to try to get number of new cases down even further, make some breathing space for doctors by getting hospitalisations, ICU numbers down even further

now by relaxing too soon (again) numbers might shoot up and it might get out of control in hospital again

All the news reports are convinced that English schools will return with ALL pupils in TWO weeks ( 8th March ) !

I thought they were expected to return in stages starting with the younger primary kids .. as Wales and Scotland are doing ..

I would have thought stages would be better too, that said Wales and Scotland go back today, and its only 4 weeks to the Easter Break from 8th March so a circuit breaker of sorts and they can assess the rise in infections?
