Britney Spears is sharing more details about her ninth studio album, which she refers to as B9, according to a recent interview for V Magazine.
Prior to this, Britney Spears has tried to keep details to a minimum about her new record, but has promised that the sound is new and exciting. Britney Spears opened up about her new album, and she also graces the cover of the magazine, in a form fitting black outfit, which she shared on her Twitter page.
In the interview, Britney Spears teased when the album would be finished without setting a firm date on the release.
“I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”
It’s been over two years since Britney Spears released her previous album, Britney Jean, which featured personal songs as she transitioned into her 30s. The album was mixed with critics and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, partly because there was minimal press surrounding the release of the album.
As for her new album, Britney Spears is taking the time to get it right. So far Britney Spears has enlisted the help of songwriters Ian Kirkpatrick, who has worked on Jason Derulo’s song “Want to Want Me,” as well as Simon Wilcox, who worked with Nick Jonas and his song “Jealous.” Britney Spears has also worked with Chantal Kreviazuk, the individual who has co-written songs for Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwen Stefani.
Britney Spears may be able to blame a portion of the delay on the demands that her private life holds, especially being a 34-year-old mother to two children. Britney Spears recently shared some of her personal life with her fans, releasing video footage she recorded of herself dancing in an orange bikini on a beach this Friday. The video shows that the Queen of Pop is not all work and no play by any means.
Just when the new album will be released is still unknown, and Britney Spears is in no rush to release it. She detailed her attachment to the new album in the interview as well.
“Honestly, I’m just particular with this record. It’s my baby, and so I really want it done right. I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be, whether that takes another year for me to do, or two months. I have no idea at this point. But I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time.”
Larry Rudolph, a manager for Britney Spears, is equally optimistic about the new album. According to NME, he offered his own perspective on the sound of the new album.
“It’s different, it’s a turn. The last few albums have been pretty straight-forward pop. This is almost like if you can imagine Britney meets The Weeknd. It’s got a really interesting vibe, it’s a lot of really cool stuff. I think people are going to absolutely love it. She sounds amazing on it. She has not sounded better in I don’t know when.”
Britney Spears seems on top of life. Her residency in Las Vegas is growing strong, she is raising her two sons well, and she even had the recent chance to meet Democratic nominee hopeful Hillary Clinton. With her new album out this year, Britney Spears has the opportunity to show the world that despite early stardom and constant pressure, she has been able to come out on top.
