Are you serious? Loads of players in our premiership are not English...do you think we should send them all home? If you want only English people playing in English teams, then you'd better be prepared for some teams to do a nosedive down to the lower divisions. Do you imagine that the Real Madrid players are saying that they don't want Beckham in their team, because he plays for England? Sorry, but that is an absolutely ridiculous statement that you made in your post.

At the end of the day...

...if my team got to the Quarter Final of the World Cup, I would be well pleased. There are a lot of good teams out there, and the fans should be applauding them for getting this far... instead of knocking them for going out.

I noticed there were less than a dozen fans waiting to see the team arrive home at Stanstead the other day... that's pretty poor... seems a lot of England fans are "fairweather fans".

Maybe he changed his style/material. And here was me thinking I had missed out on a comedy gem all this time... maybe I didn't.

I do remember the first few eps of BBBM being advertised and I thought he was loud and unfunny. I think he has probably evolved into the comic genius we see today... either that or all the drugs he took actually improved him..

A lot more turned up apparently, but the bad weather made a lot of them go home. I guess it was difficult for a lot of people to get there, given that nobody knew they were coming home until the evening before. Everybody was hoping that they would still be in Germany.

Cheers Ruth!

And there it is again easypeasy, you're judging people by the stereotypical ideas you have formed about people from certain countries. Just to be clear, I don't support Rangers or Celtic or any of the local league teams, cos football in scotland and northern ireland is riddled with sectarianism and prejudice, it's a joke. As I said before, my dad's english so thankfully, I'm not so entrenched in the sectarian c**p that plagues northern ireland. (although sadly you can hardly avoid it, especially in my job and working in Belfast)

And I don't have any problems with the english or the english national squad, I don't want to be painted out as some english hater! What I don't like though is the hypocrisy that surrounds the english national game and in particular, some of the c**p that is spouted by the media, both in television and in the press and some of the rubbish that was spouted in this thread. Calling for hate mail to be sent to the ref, the whole english media making Ronaldo out to be public enemy No. 1 when the true villan is Rooney for violent conduct against another player. Ronaldo was standing up for his fellow countryman who had just been rather disgustingly attacked. Why the hell should he show loyalty to his club mate when that "mate" had just stamped on another player. If it had happened to an english player, there would have been no criticism of Stevie G or Lampard if they had run up to the ref complaining about the incident.

Anyway, this thread had fallen down the list in here and I apologise for bumping it up again, but I was away for a few days (building a fence in my back yard, woohoo!!) and I didn't want to leave this thread with the idea that I was some sectarian, english hating scumnbag! I just love my football but I wish we could see a little more objectivity over the england squad, instead of it always being someone else's fault when they underperform and deservedly get beaten.

fair comment and no grudges mate. I still dont think the "stamping" was a deliberate premeditated act though but i will admit Rooney needs to learn to control his temper to avoid ref's giving the benefit of the doubt in favour of the drama queen rolling around on the floor all the time.
Europes best players always were a bit volatile just ask Mr Keane and Mr Cantona......

So do you think that all the English players who play for foreign clubs, should not be allowed to play for England then? And do you think that all the foreign players who play in English teams should be sent home? Because that's what it sounds like
