It's difficult going for a BB format though I mean I can't exactly use housemates because everyone will get them instantly unless I introduce international versions but even then it's a bit unfair on the people who just watch the UK shows.

For now, I think the rounds will be:

1 - Music videos
2 - Video games
3 - TV
4 - Sports
5 - Films
6 - Music clips
7 - Reality TV

It could just be like close-ups of a HMs facial feature or a zoomed in shot of a part of a BB house and you have to identify which series/country it was from?

Maybe there could be a BB round instead of a video games round but it could be questions that would be about things that happened in the house or what the house looked like in a particular series or something like that... things that aren't so easily Google-able... would probably be too much effort for you though. I just think with things like a Video Games round there are literally only maybe three or four members who have much knowledge about that at all and it kinda ruins the flow of the quiz for me personally but that's probably because I don't have any knowledge of video games...

Personally I enjoy putting up a round or two where a large portion of the forum are going to struggle, or are outside of their comfort zone. It just makes the competition a bit more fun for me, and allows for a greater diversity of players. I'm sure there're plenty of members who don't know a thing about music videos or films, either

Plus I really don't want to have to rewatch hundreds of episodes of BB highlights for obscure trivia.

I feel like with, say, the films round - you might not know the film but you might recognise the scenery as looking a bit like something from a Tarantino film or being really certain that the screencap is of Mira Sorvino or something obscure like that, so even if you're not familiar with the actual screenshot, you have some kind of hunch about what it might be and you try and figure it out... with video games, it's so specific that I find it a bit off putting to be honest, like I know next to nothing about video games so unless something is very obviously from a Mario game I'm just not going to have a clue and I think most people are the same.

Or to use a better example, I'm also pretty naff at the Sports round but you can usually figure out what kind of ball park you're in by looking at the sportsperson and being able to narrow down what they're likely to be famous for playing - a runner or a swimmer isn't going to be in a sponsored football kit for example...

Yeah but you can do that for games, like one of them was a snowboaring game last time and the graphics were awful so you could guess the console and go from there

But nah like obviously I've hosted a pub quiz before and it is a LOT of effort and you just want to tell everyone to sit down and deal with whatever you're giving them but yeah I think video games is probably the only round that's verging over into too niche; I mean I'm not a fan of the Sports round but it's a good staple for a pub quiz.

It's really difficult to do that 'cause these things are so well photographed that disguising the images is a nightmare (remember the bubbles from my ill fated pub quiz...?) but yeah if Shaun can find a good way around it then I'd be all for a landmarks round
