Gazza - the don't rest in peice comment was over the top yeah, i agree but i completely stand by everything else i said.

Ruth - yeah, me saying that won't make his kids feel better but firstly; there never going to read it and secondly; it's the truth.

Chrizzle - risking your life by going to war is fighting for your country whearas risking your life to make a t.v programme when having 2 kids is selfish and foolish. There 2 completely different things.

I'm finding it hard to see most of the replies becuase of all the arguing so there just the ones i've seen. ^^
Yeah I s'pose war and TV are different
But I wouldnt call it 'selfish'
If he never had young kids and a wife and he was a 'free spirit' then by all means go and do it, i'd sorta have some sympathy for him them but when he's doing it when he has younger kids is selfish, his kids are loosing a dad, his wife a husband all because he wants to 'entertain' us on the t.v.

lmao, thanks to everyone sticking up for me - Emz and Ella in particular.

But I've cleared myself I hope, I really dunno why everyone's being so horrible to me right now.

EDIT: What on earth? I was trying to break it up.

Ermm how can he be called selfish becuase he left his kids to go die? He never knew he was going to there, it was said that the Sting-rays only attack on rare ocassions. I doubt he thought he'll go and die today. It only happened becuase of the way he was in the water. His death was actually by accident, he wouldnt have wanted to go and out and die like that. No one would.

Shut UP Chrizzle! For god's sake I don't see what Ash has done wrong and I'm sure she doesn't appreciate comments like that!

Yeah, celebrating someone's death is wrong and no-one can stick up for that unless the person is a 'murder' but having no sympathy for someone who brought it one themself is a completely different thing and that's what i am doing, having no sympathy for him. I'm not happy in the slightest, of course i didn't want him to die, i don't want anyone to but the fact that he's getting so much attention is irratating as he brought it on himself. People die all over the world of causes which are not there own fault and they could be the nicest people in the world but don't get a mention.

Why must everyone insist you have to like Ash? I like her and all but its always you have to like her. People can do what they like. Being honest all shes done here is get herself involved where its not needed. The same with Emz. Im sure your nice but you got yourself involved when it wasnt needed.

We all know that, we all know he didn't wake up one day and think 'oh i'll go and die today' but it's the point that he knows he could have died but still done the job with young kids. That's selfish and IMO, people can't say it aint.

Do you think his children would feel better reading remarks such as yours Legend? If you're that bothered about their feelings, stop being nasty about their dad.

Ok people, ive been away for the after noon and ive found like 6 pages of what seems like arguing
I know what jakey said was out of order and was disrespectful but can we just stop it now
A great man has died, we shouldn't argue about it we should look at all the great things he did for wildlife across the world
If you want to argue then fine, I just feel we should have respect for other members on this forum and for those who will mourn over steve's death
We can have a little comfort in knowing he died doing something he loved
