Currently the band is working with singer Christina Aguilera. “We’ve got a few songs for her [next album]. Right now we’re still in the studio. One song is a cover of [Ladyhawke's] My Delirium. It’s all very interesting work, and new ground for all of us involved,” Wu said in a BBC Radio 1 interview.

I meant used for albums. Bar Lady Marmalade but that only appeared on the greatest hits and besides all of the other girls are totally independent from that song now.

CHRISTINA Aguilera plans to tone down her famous vocal gymnastics and go Goth with help from synth poppers Ladytron.

The cult Liverpool quartet are one of the big-voiced diva’s favourite bands, so she has hired them to help her find a new darker direction.

Ladytron founder Daniel Hunt told me: “We first heard that we were one of Christina’s favourite bands last summer. We were chuffed.

“So we went over to LA to meet her in December where she identified the type of Ladytron songs that she liked. We were impressed because she had a real deep knowledge of our music – album tracks, not just the singles.”

Seems like Christina, 28, is tired of bombarding our lugholes with her legendary three-octave vocal runs. She’s aiming for strong pop melodies instead.

Danny, 29, explained: “She’s an absolutely amazing singer but one of the things she talked about was working with a softer vocal sound, so I think the stuff we do will feature simpler melodies.”

The end result is expected to mirror their own dark and moody brand of electronica but Ladytron don’t mind the Agmeister stealing their underground sound.

The Ladytron keyboardist – whose new single To*morrow is released on March 2 – added: “It’s logical for her to go out and work with the actual band she likes, rather than simply try and copy the sound with someone else.

“We’re gonna finish off some more tunes with her in March.”

And don’t rule out a live collaboration either.

Danny said: “We haven’t discussed performing together but I’d love for us to do something – maybe be her backing band for a show or two.”

Ladytron, who hit Europe’s stadia with Depeche Mode this summer, expect the new tunes will materialise later this year.

Ladytron are amazing, I can't wait to hear their influence on Christina's album.

I have a feeling she won't abandon them completely, she always has at least one big belter on her albums. I expect something like 'You Are What You Are (Beautiful)' but with bigger vocals.
