You and bitontheslide Misrepresent my position.

From my experience, not every bully can be stood up to. Some have to be acquiesced to because they are too powerful and are willing and able to take extreme action.

Putin is one such person, given his KGB connections, which I said from the get go.

There has been a tremendous loss of life as the "plucky" Ukrainians put up a fight. This only aggravated the situation and escalated things. Something, with some people, you do not do. It seems many here have ignored the wisdom of Ghandi, a man who threw off the British and led India to independence, so he must have known what he was talking about.

As for arista near the beginning of this, I am certain that the Ukrainian president did issue the order not to surrender to the troops. I am an amateur historian, so I pointed out that Hitler did the same thing regarding the issuing of orders. That is just historical fact. They may not be the same people, but it seemed that they did exactly the thing, regarding the issuing of orders.

If Zelensky had taken the American offer to leave for the west and the troops surrendered, there may not have been so much bloodshed here.

Violence only breeds more violence.
Ghandi knew that, and his passive non violent ways bore fruit.

And had people not fought back against Hitler and Nazi Germany, where would we be today? What are the Ukrainians meant to do? If they had surrendered easily and Putin then turned his attention to other non Nato countries and then eventually the rest of Europe as his troop numbers grow..were they all to surrender too until a New World Order is established and Putin rules all? What kind of world would our children and grandchildren have to look forward to then?

your pro russian stance is becoming tiresome. Maybe you think you are being funny/smart but you are not

He didnt order them to fight to the death, the army said they wanted to fight to the end. It's always an individuals choice in the end. They could dessert like so many thousand russian soldiers

He won't attack Poland initially as they are members if Nato but has threatened escalation if Sweden or Finland want to join Nato. He is not acting like a rational leader so who knows what he could / will do

its very difficult to know what putin will do after ukraine. He could try for a couple of quick wins against smaller non nato countries, but they have shown quite clearly that they dont have an army equipped/trained to go up against a tech superior and trained nato force. The ukraine army has only been trained for about 8 years by us, but it has shown itself to be a formidable foe to russia. That being said, russia will eventually level ukraine if it keeps going on its current path and that cant be considered a win for anyone

... and the Russian people still have no idea what atrocities their army are committing .

Presumably their soldiers are not allowed to go on leave or contact their families ??

'Surrender or Die'
Russia tells them.

[Russia has claimed it has hit more than
1,200 Ukrainian targets with missiles,
airstrikes and artillery
Russia gave Ukrainian troops a two-hour window
to lay down arms in Mariupol or face being killed
Several cities and towns in eastern Ukraine
were pounded by Russian shelling
and artillery last night
The war in Ukraine has now entered
a new phase as Russia doubles down on
efforts to seize the territories of
Donetsk and Luhansk]

I get that, just asking what would have been the result if they had.
