I imagine it's just a part of the experience, really - maybe it helps to deal with the pressures of fame, being in another world inside your head or something. But yeah, probably peer pressure, or because it's 'cool', or something like that

or perhaps the fact being that being an addict - is a choice - as it is well known and long documented that drugs can lead to addiction: it's not news, so it's a chance they take and they take knowingly. No one forces anyone to take drugs - peer pressure is that, pressure -it's not forced upon a person.
