Paul Lambert has been told he has cash to spend on his squad this summer, as the Midlands side look to avoid a repeat of their struggles of last season.

The new Villa boss has made signing a striker one of his first priorities, and it is believed he has set his sights on a deal for Senegal international Balde.

The 23-year-old scored seven goals in his debut season for Osasuna last term, and Lambert will be confident of persuading the Spaniards to sell for Ł8million.
