He has not been charged yet, he has been arrested on suspicion of murder and police have until 5pm today to charge or release him, its seems a very complicated situation with some of the rescue teams searching for April as a rescue mission and not giving up hope that she is alive, and others on a recovery mission searching for a body. He cant have confessed , but I assume the police have found some sort of evidence to tie him to the abduction but not enough to charge him as yet? Im very confused by it all tbh.

As many others have said on this thread I just hope to god the police have not put all their eggs in the wrong basket... Just don't know why they haven't charged him with anything after all this time....

They managed to do it with a certain Mr Jefferies last year iirc and look at the media frenzy and witch hunt that took place, when the man was innocent all the time......

I'm still mystified if they haven't found a body though....?

I'm not sure how they changed the investigation from a searching for a missing person to a murder inquiry searching for a body, without this guy admitting he had killed her, in which case he has admitted murder or manslaughter so charge him with murder. Presumably he has admitted killing her as he is now giving police info as to where he disposed of her body. And because of this the search using public volunteers has been called off. It's looks like they are using specialist equipment to locate her body.

If they have no evidence and have to release him without charge today, can they re-arrest him on suspicion if murder again?

I can't even think about how April's parents are feeling right now.

so from this we can assume he did not confess, something about all this does not feel right I do hope they have the right person and that April will be found.

Will be interesting to find outwhat this 'sufficient evidence' is that is enough to charge him with murder and abduction.

Regardless: he has been charged, not found guilty at this point and the place (internet wise) is awash with all sorts of punishments. So much for a fair trial: too many people on webland jumping find the man guilty - that's still to be proven.

Not that that helps the poor girl's family and loved ones - hellish situation for them.

Not really paid much attention to this case but this is very sad news. My heart sunk a little bit.

I think when the worst nightmare is confirmed it sort of hits home. Awful really.
